Is it only me or are the recent Saiyuki fic offerings in fanfiction.net crappy and cringe-worthy??

I know! I know! I should just shut up and not comment but it's driving me nuts not to get it off my chest. And no, I cannot write. :(

Shutting up now.

(Sorry if I pissed off anyone. Just my personal opinion.)

The only fics I read are those posted in the smutfic exchanges or on comms like saiyuki_yaoi or hardlove, so I don't know. Sorry to hear you're disappointed about it though.

[livejournal.com profile] springkink has started its latest cycle again. Maybe some good Saiyuki will be posted there.

I notice Saiyuki is not a fave in springkink. I guess it may be because Saiyuki has it's own "smut-fests".

Honestly, the "smut-fests" are the ones I look forward to every year to get a good dose of good Saiyuki fics, on top of the occasional goodies that our generous Saiyuki writers dish out when inspiration strikes. (you guys know who you are)

Nonetheless I still hope things will turnaround for Saiyuki in ffn. ^^

(I forgot to mention that I also read stuff that comes up on my f-list. Not always, because there can be so much of it, but when I'm online and have the time to sit and read.)

I know you insist that you *aren't* a writer, but honestly, that longing you are describing for stories that you want to read is where we all start: we start by writing the stories we want to read. You don't have to publish them. Or you can publish them only for a select group of kindhearted friends (which is what posting to just the f-list and avoiding the comms or FFN ends up being anyway.)

You can begin very simply, with a drabble or two, or a prompt table where you construct simple one-sentence observations on your favourite characters. Maybe a few of them linked together create a story for you.

I would just encourage you to write, even if you don't feel you can. You obviously can because you express your thoughts and opinions very nicely in your journal. There is no reason why that can't extend to expressing the inner world of your imagination.

On my.... did anyone tell you that you can be very persuasive? I'm almost swayed but thank goodness for my stubborn streak. ^_^

I'm the type of person with a lousy attention span - I'd probably give up before I even began. LOL!!!

But still, I really thank you for your encouragement and will keep your advice in mind. If I ever get a really great idea that has to be written despite my lack of talent, I'll do it!!!!

Oh! I also forgot to mention that springkink posts its claims lists prior to the, for lack of a better word, festival. So, if you want to know which prompts have been claimed and when the Saiyuki stories will be showing up, you can take a look through the schedule. I grabbed one -- 5/8 of course, because that's my favourite ship -- for July 20th or 22nd (can't remember which right now), but there were a whole host of them this round, and I think the writers are excellent.
