Helloooooo everyone!!

A thousand apologies for the inactivity but I have been busy...... and lazy.

I finally quit my company, after 8 years and 11 months, and joined another one. My current job is still customer service related but instead of dealing with corporations, I'm dealing with consumers. *shudders* It's actually more 'challenging' but I think the change of work environment is refreshing. So bottomline is work is still busy as ever. I guess my next target should be retirement??? Ha Ha Ha

On the personal front, I visited Japan in October 2014 and March 2015. Both were for 2 weeks each. I reckon this can be considered a personal achievement though I've burnt up all my leave. Which means I can only go for my next holiday to Japan in 2016. What a bummer....

In Oct 2014, I ended up visiting Takayama, Kamikochi (which a national reserve park), Osaka & Tokyo. Here are some pics.....

TAKAYAMA - Nakabashi, Miyamaebashi, Miyagawa

KAMIKOCHI - Mt Yake-Dake, Asuza River, Taisho Pond

OSAKA - Dotonburi, Shitennoji, Osaka Castle

In March 2015, I went to Shimoda, Dougashima, Futo Coast, Irozaki and Matsuzaki in Izu Peninsula, Numazu in Shizuoka and Tokyo.
I have created a tumblr account and uploaded some pics of this recent trip there so please feel free to pop over to have a look.

Other things that I have been busy with would be my anime figure collection. All my hard earned money is going into these plastic figures. I know it's crazy but what the heck. I might drop dead suddenly so what's the point of saving every single cent? It's a lame excuse but yeah........

And I'm still watching my anime and reading my fanfiction. Life would be incomplete without them.

Last but not least, my hubby and son are doing great. J is getting more mature and I hear less whining. I think I can say that life is treating me well. It would be best if I didn't have to work but I should't be too greedy. Ha Ha Ha....

That's all for now. Have a great weekend ahead, everyone. ;)

 Hello everyone

Just an update to let everyone know that I'm still lurking around.

Work is still crazy but good news is I'm planning for a 2 week holiday to Japan in early Oct. It's just the start of autumn in the Kanto region where Tokyo is but I should be able to catch a glimpse of the autumn colours in Nikko & Sendai (Tohoku region) which is further up north.

Hopefully this will be an even better trip then the last. I barely planned my itinerary and the weather did not help (winter - brrrrr).

Stay healthy & happy, people. Hugs to all.

Errr... I may have hit my head and suffer from temporary memory loss. Are we skipping Valentine_Smut this year???

During my annual leave from 17 Dec 2012 - 2 Jan 2013, aside from falling sick, I managed to complete the following animes. Not too bad if I have to say so myself. *grins*

MUV-LUV ALTERNATIVE TOTAL ECLIPSE
Total : 24+1 (recap) episodes

It all started as a visual novel aka interactive fiction game which then resulted in some spin-offs or sequels.  Anyway, Earth has been invaded by aliens called BETA, who chomp humans as a snack, and mankind attempts to defeat them or risk extinction. Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse is about the trials (& tribulations??) of a group of Tactical Surface Fighters test pilots. TSFs (think mecha-tech) are weapons developed by mankind fight against BETAs.

Typical mankind vs alien warfare but it boasts excellent graphics and the soundtrack rocks. There is action, gore and romance and I liked the fact that it did not turn out to be a sappy, love story. The beginning of the series already had me at the edge of my seat with anxiety and frustration. This production managed to keep me interested all the way to the end which I must say is a feat by itself.

Sword Art Online
Total : 25 episodes

This tells of players who are trapped in the world of virtual reality when they logged on to a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online but found that they could not log out unless they clear the final stage. I had my reservations with this but after the 2nd or 3rd episode, I was hooked. It was delightfully easy to watch and very, very entertaining.

Of course it helped that the male protagonist, Kirito is drawn so adorably cute (he's 16, if memory serves me correct).

K
Total : 13 episodes

I'm kinda undecided about this one. I had difficulty getting into this anime, partly because the storyline in the beginning was really confusing. I was struggling to keep up with it but I persevered due to one awesome character in this anime - Suou Mikoto aka The Red King. This is one uber cool dude. I'm 50 - 50 with the ending though. I'd say it's a meh ending yet totally appropriate. Hence what I meant by undecided. LOL!!

But one thing for sure is, the soundtrack (as in the music played throughout the anime, not the OP or ED) is excellent!!

Hyouka
Total : 22 episodes

I like this anime just because it is beautifully drawn, and the storyline is very simple. It's a story of a boy, Oreki Houtarou, who joins the Classic Literature Club at the start of his high school years, as a favour for his sister who was a former member, as the club is at risk of being abolished if it has no new members.

Oreki's motto in life is to use the least effort to complete his tasks which he coins as energy-saving. This anime depicts how he changes little by little as he interacts with the rest of the club members. Despite being in the Classics Literature Club, Oreki and the club members are always solving little puzzles that they come across during school. Do note that there is no major action or mystery but nonetheless, it's a nice anime and worth watching if you have the time to spare.

Say I Love You
Total : 13 episodes

This is originally a manga (which is ongoing) and made into an anime. It tells of a loner, Mei, who keeps to herself in school, and how the most popular boy in school, Yamato, becomes interested in her. During this time, Yamato slowly drags Mei out of her shell and she starts making friends and falls for him as well.

This is a sappy love story but one I enjoyed a lot. It's just so cute how Mei & Yamato's love blossom. He He He....

Fate/Zero

I just sat through 25 episodes of Fate/Zero in one sitting. I'm tired and my ass hurts.

And I don't know how to react to this anime. WTF was my initial reaction. After 10 minutes of pondering, I went, 'Huh??".

Any WK fan watching Psycho-Pass?

PSYCHO-PASS

An anime about law enforcers ala Minority Report, which happens to be one of my all-time favourite movie. I watched one episode and I'm already hooked. Interesting characters (It has my prerequisite of a hot, brooding protagonist . Kya~~~~. IMO, he resembles Kyoya Hibari from Katekyo Hitman Reborn.), interesting plot, excellent animation and great ED theme by supercell.

Enough said. Check it out. More info on trusty Wiki here.

BTOOOM!

A group of the online combat game, Btooom!, players who gets abducted and thrown onto a deserted island to play the game for real. A dream come true.......NOT!! It's a survival of the craftiest.

Do note that there's a couple of flashbacks on how each main character was picked and landed themselves on the island. I don't know how many there'll be cos I'm only at episode 4. But so far, it has been quite interesting AND bloody. ^^;;

I hope they manage to keep me interested cos we're talking about a bunch of people on an island with nothing else to do but to kill enough opponents to get them off the god-forsaken steam room.

Wiki page here.

I'm also watching Bakuman 3 and K!. Despite all the hype about K, I have not progressed beyond episode 1 so I cannot really comment yet. I think I'll go watch K after this post. ^_^

This conversation happened a few days ago.

Son : Mom, have you watched the movie, The Human Centipede?
Moi : LOL!! You're joking. There's no such movie.
Son : There is!! I'm serious!!
(Please note that these "you're kidding"s and "I'm not"s went back & forth for quite a while)
Moi : Right...... So what's it about?
Son : It's a horror film.
Moi : Hmmm.... go on.
Son : There is this mad scientist who kidnaps and surgically joins 3 persons, mouth to anus.
Moi : Shut up!! That's so lame. You're bluffing!!
Son : (laffs) No, really. Here.... (passes me his iPhone) I wiki-ed it for you.
Moi : (reads)....................................What.The.Fuck?!! (Bad mom curses in front of son. LOL!!) Who the fuck makes this type of crap??!!
Son : Well, this Dutch (Moi : It's actually German) director did.
Moi : And you watched it??
Son : For the 1st 30 minutes. Then my friend and I skipped to the ending.
Moi :  So what happened?
Son : The first person and the last person died. The one in the middle survived. I bet she wished she was dead!! (laffs)
Moi : I think I'm gonna throw up. So what happened to the mad scientist??
Son : I dunno. I think he escaped.
Moi : You mean he didn't die??? (Moi : He was killed. I read the whole damn wiki entry in the end just to make this post.)
Son : I'm not sure cos I skipped all the way to the end. (snorts)

The conversation went on for a while. Actually it's one sided. I was going on and on about why these people (if you can call them that) are allowed to make such disturbing movies. And I also told my son that I'm embarrassed that he actually watched such crap. He defended himself saying they were really bored and they did not watch the whole show. Yeah....whatever. My tirade went on for a while and my son was pretty amused. Such directors should be shot!!

Google it, ladies and gentlemen. It's for real........ *headdesks*

From Wikipedia: The story revolves around four teens — the twins Yūta and Yūki Asaba, the effeminate Shun Matsuoka, and the class head Kaname Tsukahara — who have known each other since early childhood. While they are not necessarily good or bad friends, they continue to hang out well into high school. The half-Japanese transfer student Chizuru Tachibana joins the circle of friends in this comedy about the everyday life of adolescence.

To be honest, I did not plan to watch Kimi to Boku (Season 1 & 2, 13 episodes each) because I was thinking how interesting can an anime about the life of a few regular teenagers be??

But I turned out to be so wrong. Indeed, there is no drama or suspense but the story is so heartwarming, cute and real - it's something everyone can relate to - which I suspect is one of the reason why the anime/manga is so well received. Made me wish my teenage years were similar and that I had friends growing up. Do check out this feel-good anime!!

And their soundtrack is really cool - laidback and relaxing.

I'm alive

Hi everyone

Just a quick update on what I've been up to since going on lurker mode.

It's still work, work and more work. Things seem to be slowing down so hopefully I'll be able to find more time for myself.

Some good news would be my company finally got me a 13" MacBook Air (maybe to compensate me for the ridiculous hours I put in) and I'm thinking of getting a Gelaskin for it. What do you think of the following pic?

Other than that, I have picked up another new "obsession" which is figurine collecting. I started this in late Feb this year. For those interested, you can see my collection here at MyFigureCollection(MFC). I've stuffed all my figurines in an unused wardrobe for now. The joke in my family now is that I am so broke from buying these figurines, I have no more money to buy display cabinets. LOL!!!

If you noticed, most of my figurines are male. And I only buy figurines of animes/mangas I have watched/read, otherwise I'd probably have to sell my husband and son to supplement this hobby.

There's also some drama between my elder brother's wife and my 70 year old mom but I'll spare you the torture. :P

And there's my son who is going through this weird phase where he goes on and on about there is nothing he wants to do in his life but music. (He's at the point where he needs to decide which course of study to take after his O levels.) This mommy is not too keen as I don''t think it's very practical but son is not listening. Regardless, I told son he should focus on his O levels for now.

On top of the above, I try to squeeze in some time to catch up on fanfics cos that seems to be the only other escape I have for now. I'm so pathetic, aren't I? Ha Ha Ha

I'm actually typing this from my workplace, so gotta go now. Take care & hugs to all!! *muack*

Work has been absolutely crazy. I'm working extra long hours with no extra pay. Argh!!!

So probably will be stuck in lurker mode for a while. *pouts*

Hugs to all!!
