Howdy, everybody. Hope your Valentine's Day was an eventful and memorable one.

Anyway that's not what I wanna talk about. I wanna talk about VS - YES!!! - valentine_smut .

Firstly, I must clarify that my number one is Sanzo - always has been and always will. He can just stand there and scowl, I will rave about it. He can just fart, I will rave about it. Even the very mention of his name, I will rave about it.

But I must admit that the Gojyo/Hakkai offerings this VS, IMHO, have been amazing!!!! So many, so good. I am really impressed - so much so that I almost feel I'm betraying Sanzo. LOL!!!

I won't name them cos I'd probably end up repeating the same list posted there. They are really that good.

Check VS out asap, if you haven't done so. And to quote samsarapine - "You must join the comm to read them, but no worries - as long as you're over 18, anyone can join."

But then all those on my f-list are already Saiyuki fanz. ;)

The Gojyo/Hakkai karaoke one was AWESOME!!!! I really liked the one for me, too!

I've been stuck with rehearsal and costumes all weekend, so it's been torture knowing all that lovely smut is out there, waiting to be read!

I'm with you and kirathaune on Sanzo, though there are times he really irritates me. He is awfully pretty, though, and way too sexy to be a monk.

I liked all the ones you mention, plus I really liked "Time Management" (Koumyou/Ukoku AU) as well. It's very clever at demonstrating the differences between Koumyou and Ukoku.

There are some I like better than others, but they're all solid pieces.

You are right. Time Management is indeed a gem.

Generally I prefer Koumyou and Ukoku AUs cos it is less angsty. We all know what happens in canon so there are no real happy endings, unlike AUs. :)

I prefer Koumyou/Ukoku AUs becuase they're more believable. I'm not convinced that canon Koumyou would have slept with Ukoku.

LOL!!! If you put it that way, I honestly dun think the canon ikkou is sleeping with each other at all. All the sex is definitely in our minds, no? ;)

I know your response is mostly in jest, but more seriously: Slashing the ikkou makes more sense to me than slashing Koumyou and Ukoku. They're guys who are thrown together under circumstances where it would be difficult to find women and impossible to maintain a relationship with one. Kind of like British boarding schools, you'd think that eventually they'd take out their sexual frustrations with each other because they have no other outlets other than self-love.

Gojyo and Hakkai, having been roommates, are practically married to begin with. It seems pretty clear from canon that Hakkai's captured Gojyo's heart in some way; there are just too many references to his feelings for Hakkai - being selfish for wanting Hakkai to live, and when he thinks Gonou is dead, to being dumped by a hottie for the second time - for it to just be joking, IMO. (I say this as someone whose favorite pairing is 393 and for whom pairings with Sanzo in them are preferred to 585.)

There's probably more projection going on with Sanzo, since canon Sanzo might never let anyone touch him (other than Goku and Gojyo), but canon Sanzo also strikes me as pretty unlikely to be heterosexual either.

I'm actually not a big fan of slash, particularly when applied to TV shows where it's clear the characters are intended to be straight, or at least more straight than the fans would like to see them (see Supernatural, Merlin, House, Criminal Minds, etc.), but it makes some sense when applied to Saiyuki.

Then again, the volume of sex they have and the ease and effortlessness of it is clearly fictional! If it really happened, there'd be a lot more fumbling involved and not so many simultaneous and mind-blowing orgasms.

I definitely see where you are coming from, and you do have your point.

As for me, frankly, it's just the fangirl side of me that is indulging in all the Saiyuki slash. I honestly do not see it (or maybe I do not want to see it? I'm not sure myself.) in canon Saiyuki, unlike WA where the implications are much prominent.

That said, it does not mean I dun enjoy it. I practically thrive on Saiyuki slash. LOL!!!

In any case, let us enjoy the fics as they are. Pure indulgence - uncensored. :)

Me being a shameless Gojyo/Hakkai shipper, went through the lot like a forest fire in the summer. I need to continue with the others now (or after some sleep) but at the mo, my absolute favourite is 'As it is in Heaven'.

SO. MUCH. LOVE. I need a 10K fix so bad.

Squeee.... "As it is in Heaven" is a good one. We seldom see Hakkai as the shameless one. Gojyo is a scream in this one. LOL!!!

And the Gaiden inserts in the story stirs the right amount of melancholy, and balances the fic so well, ne?

Maybe you can write a 10K fic to curb your hunger. If possible, do throw in Konzen & Goku as well. ^___^
