Fic rec at nitro_recs

I've rec an abandoned fic at  nitro_recs.

I know most people avoid such fics like the plague cos it leaves one hanging. 

So if anyone is game, please do have a look and let me know your thoughts.

Just now finished reading it - it was really good! It's a shame that she didn't finish, but at least she got to the "reveal" point of the story.

WIPs are a little nerve-wracking. I can't imagine posting a story while I'm still writing it!

I'm glad you liked it. Looking at my description, I thot it really sucked and may end up putting off potential readers.

I loved how she wrote Hakkai. And Goku in the chapter 7 was awesome. I could literally feel his pain. I love it when a fic can get such a reaction from me. :)

Lastly, I think it's fairly common to post as they write.

The disadvantage to the readers is that they are left hanging when RL gets too much for the writer or they're having writer's block and the likes.

Goku WAS awesome! And yes, her Hakkai was very good.

I know most people do post chapter-by chapter, but I think if I ever work on a longfic I will want to have it all done first... maybe post as I edit the chapters, but I'd want the main writing done.

It's just so "AAAGGH!" when you get all caught up in a story and then it Stops. I'm still hoping Soli finishes that "Wake up Heart" 393 that she's got, and Kispexi2 has that amazing Firefly/Saiyuki crossover that grabbed me hard.

Yes!!! Wake Up Heart. I did ask Soli / Xpyne about it once and she said she will finish it.... one day. So I'm still hopeful.

Another 2 that I'm currently waiting for is Jakondas' The Elemental Flame and theprd's Dirty Things. But these two has only been in hiatus for 3 and 2 months respectively, so no worries there....., I think. LOL

Yes, Soli is still consumed by her vampire AU... which promises to be HAWT. But Wake Up Heart has such a unique plot, (not to mention the smokin' bot tent scene!!!) that I truly hope she finishes it!

Dirty Things - yes! I am loving that one. And Helliongoddess' Strangers on a Train. The Storms that Bind us, I've been reading that one too.

Squeee.... Strangers on a Train is excellent. But helliongoddess is going thru a rough patch so it may a while before we get another update. Have you ever read this fic of hers - The Sacred Hoop? It's awesome. Link as below :

The Storm That Binds Us is good. There was a recent update - Chapter 13. Have you checked it out??

So many good fics in progress. I'm like checking for updates everyday without fail. I think I'm obsessed. jakondas labelled me a stalker. LOL!!!

And you should check out jakondas' The Elemental Flame, if you haven't already done so. Her Sanzo & Gojyo is sooooooo good.

Have you ever thought about requesting "lurker" status on the ever_west RPG? A lot of the threads are rather well written. Mosh and I are Sanzo and Goku there, as well as Hazel and Gat. The mods cam up with the "approved lurker" so interested readers can see the locked threads. I know purpleicicles is one, and animaven just signed up to lurk.

In fact I am currently stalking ever_west for updates on DOWN TIME. LOL!!!

I would message Mosh or Ebi for more details - I *think* that you would join the community.

Normally the only members are the characters - I am not a member as kirathaune but as my Goku LJ username equaling_heaven. I think they came up with the whole "lurker" thing because there are people who really enjoy reading the threads, but once they go above I think an R rating it gets locked. Lurkers will be members, so they can then read the locked posts, but they are not allowed to comment.

It's always tricky reccing abandoned WIPs, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who will still read them regardless. I guess it depends how invested in the pairing a reader is. I probably wouldn't bother with a 39 WIP as I love the pair and would be sad not to get any resolution, but other pairings I might consider reading if I knew the story wasn't going to be finished. Possibly. :)

And really, a rec's a rec, and either way the author will be pleased that you liked the story enough to rec it.

It's just that I feel that some fics are so worth reading even though they are abandoned. It's such a waste to skip it. Hence I do try (a bit too hard, I guess) to convince people to give it a try.

But I also understand the frustration & disappointment of reading an abandoned fic. At times I do think, "why bother" when it's never gonna be completed.

Yup, a shame indeed. Apparently the writer is of bad health, but I think she still writes occasionally. Just not Saiyuki. ^_^

That's an accurate depiction though I've always imagined Sanzo to be grabbing the front of Goku's shirt. LOL!!!
