A meme cos I've been tagged!!!!

Tagged by[livejournal.com profile] veronicacode

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it."

 1) When I discover some new food that I like, I'll keep gorging myself with it for the next 2 - 3 weeks (not everyday, but almost every other day) until I'm sick & tired of it. After that, I'll lose my interest and will not crave for it again.

2) I'm addicted to the Internet. I surf in the office, when I reach home until it's bedtime. It's worse on hols / weekend - from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. But I don't aimlessly surf - I'll always be on LJ, ff.net, or G-market. I know - so boring, huh.

3) I hate socialising.... period. I don't mean going out with girlfriends but casual dinners between colleagues and the big boss who is on his annual visit, office functions, wedding dinners where you do not know anybody else except the bride/groom, parties where you do not know anyone else but the host. Why? Because I hate making small talk - I find it fake and patronising. Bottomline - I'm anti-social?? Ha Ha Ha

4) I have a fiery temper. Anything & everything can just trigger me off, but then I also simmer down pretty fast. After that I would feel like a real bitch and apologise (well, most of the time if I did lose it for no valid reason). But usually only my family and good friends see this side of me. That's so wrong, right? But I'm truly think that I can be my true self with people that love me whom I care and am comfortable with.......

5) I have the attention span of a 6 year old. I will lose interest in stuff pretty quickly - especially sports/health related ones.
Eg :
1)  I picked up inline skating and was very enthusiastic about it. Bought the skates, new sports attire and the works but promptly lost interest within 6 months. I think it's because I tried and found that I'm not good at it hence why bother?
2) 2 visits to the fitness centre (California Fitness specifically) and I swear never to step into one again. Perspiration and a pounding heartbeat (not related to the hunk in pheripheral view) is so not my thing.

6) I just wanna be happy and contented with my life. I'm happy just having a job that makes enough to supplement husband's income to support the family, and have a loving family. And I'm free to indulge myself occasionally with some shopping, and pick up new interests along the way to while away any extra time I have (when I'm not on the Internet). Sometimes I wonder why is it that I have no ambitions to climb the corporate ladder, unlike my peers. I rationalise that the higher you are, the more work and stress you'll be exposed to so it's not worth it. Afterall there's no free ride in this world, correct?

7) Something light hearted - I'm currently obsessed with Saiyuki, Code Geass & Vampire Knights fan-fiction. I've been reading and re-reading them non-stop, and hunting for new ones. Any good recommendations???

I'm skipping B & C cos my f-lists are quite a close community and most probably are already tagged one way or another. Or because I'm plain lazy. He He He

Psssttt... I'm feeling uncomfortable cos I strained my shoulder, probably cos I'm hunched over my computer for such long periods of time, and it's killing me. 2 visits to the doctor and loads of painkiller later, the bloody twinge is still there and annoying the hell out of me. :P

It's not only lust for love of Sanzo we have in common, but 3. and 4. 3. especially. I cannot make small talk to save my life - well, except for asking the cashier her opinion of the new cash registers, but that was something that occurred to me due to external cues, and I was curious.

7. My daughter is into Vampire Knight fanfiction. She ships Zero and Kaname for the lolz and has a favorite multi-chaptered fanfiction from FFN I can ask her the name of if you're interested. She stopped reading Saiyuki when she saw I was getting serious about it (i.e., starting to write smut and relate everything to Saiyuki characters).

[identity profile] suanz.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
I totally get what you mean on making small talk. They all say that I sound so forced and unnatural when I'm making small talk and my body language seems to be screaming "Someone get me out of here!!!".

Squee.... Me too. I totally ship Zero X Kaname. LOL. If it's not too much trouble, I would love to check out your daughter's fave.

Thanks in advance.

I'll check with her. Here's a post with some Vampire Knight t-shirts she made for herself. Unfortunately, she managed to lose the Team Kuran one at school; she was using it for her gym clothes, and it got lost somehow.

I realized just now that it sounds like she used to read Saiyuki fanfiction. She's read the manga up through Reload 2. SHe's never read any fanfiction for any fandoms I'm in (Gravitation and Saiyuki); however, she is responsible for my being here, because it was her sole volume of Gravitation that led me to love and obsession (I bought all the other volumes), fanfiction sites, writing fanfction, and eventually to LJ, not to find more fanfction but to join a community for writers of Gravitation fanfiction. I think she's afraid to read anything in any of my fandoms; she might stumble across Mom's smut work!

Cool shirts. She should have one with both Zero & Kaname. That would be awesome.

Ha Ha Ha... I suppose this is common with most teenagers. It's against their law to be an open fan of their parents (they do it in the closet) ;)

In her case, it's more like it's an embarrassment to have a mother who's a fangirl (or fanwoman, I suppose). Her friends who know about it think it's cool. One is a Zero partisan, whereas I'm a Kaname partisan. We've had some friendly discussions about it.

Mostly, they're impressed that I read manga at all. Their parents' reaction is similar to my husband's: he doesn't care for manga or anime-style art and can't wrap his brain around the method by which you have to read and follow the panels.

My teenage son and I read manga too, but we have totally different tastes. I actually introduced him to manga so I guess he should be cool about it. ??

Anyway I think you're cool. :)

Thanks. I don't know how cool I am, but anyway...

My daughter got introduced to manga via Magic Knight Rayearth, which someone attending summer camp with her had. That's one of the few manga of hers I haven't read at all; the panels she showed me when she first got it didn't interest me.

I started on the anime first, then the manga. Perhaps that would kick off your interest? :)

The story is The Other Half of Myself by YenGirl at FFN. I see it's 30 chapters (that, I already knew) and over 200,000 words.

I can't vouch for it, as I haven't read it, but my daughter is almost as picky as I am, so it should be good, or at least readable. The introduction is literate, at least. She does admit they may be a bit OOC, but she thinks the pairing itself is OOC. She likes it for the lulz, as she would put it. Enjoy!

[identity profile] suanz.livejournal.com 2010-03-01 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I've read that one. Very nice and a tad OOC.

In fact, most of the VK fics I've read are a bit OOC but they're still good.As long as they're not ridiculously OOC (like a total personality change), I'm fine.

Total IC-ness rule only applies to my one true love - Saiyuki. LOL!!

As I said, my daughter thinks, and I concur, that Zero x Kaname as a pairing is OOC to begin with. She doesn't mind OOC if it's for the lulz and there's still a semblance of the canon personality.

Personally, I ship Kaname and Ichijo. Ichijo seems the most 'normal' of the Night Class and is Kaname's right hand man, so to speak.

[identity profile] suanz.livejournal.com 2010-03-01 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I see.

As for me, I think Kaname and Zero as the perfect pairing cos of their blood bond. I cannot recall if Kaname drank Zero's blood (will have to re-watch the anime again) but Zero definitely fed of Kaname and this is what makes the pairing perfect. He He He

I suppose that's why I prefer the fanfics to the manga. LOL!!!

We are similar in point 1!
When I like some new food I'd like eating it often.
But, at the end, I can also forget about it...XD

I am totally agree with you in point 6!
I think that the secret of happiness is hidden in those lines.
My motto is: " We work for living, don't live for working"!

1- xDD yess
and you're not antisocial! those kinda "parties" are really awkward...I prefer a small group of good trusting friends you can rely on than the bunch of hypocrites that are in those kinda social parties. Everyone's soo fake

[identity profile] suanz.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. With friends, you can be yourself -both good and bad. You dun have to be all self-conscious and be in your best behaviour. :)
